Countertop cost calculator
A ballpark installed price from square footage, material grade, edge profile and cutouts. Enter your own numbers — the defaults are illustrative, not a price list.
Ballpark only. Real pricing depends on your slab cost, shop rate, travel and the specific material.
What actually drives countertop price
Most of the number is square footage times a blended rate that already contains your slab cost, your shop labor and your overhead. Everything else on this calculator is an add-on for work that does not scale with area: an edge profile is priced by linear foot because that is how long it takes to run, and a cutout is priced per unit because a sink takes the same effort whether it sits in twenty square feet or sixty.
Pricing the edge correctly
An eased or flat polished edge is normally included in the base rate because it comes off the same polishing pass. Anything past that is additional machine time and additional handling, and a mitered edge is a different job entirely — you are gluing and aligning a second piece of stone, then polishing a joint that has to disappear. Shops that fold mitered edges into the base rate lose money on exactly the jobs customers are most excited about.
The cutouts people forget to charge for
Sink and cooktop cutouts get quoted almost every time. Faucet holes, soap dispenser holes, outlet cutouts in a backsplash, and the polish on an undermount sink reveal often do not, and they add up across a job. If a line item takes shop time, it belongs on the quote even when it is small.
Where margin belongs
The margin field here sits on top of everything else, which is the safest way to think about it while you are learning your own numbers. The more accurate approach once you have history is to build margin into your square-foot rate and your per-cutout prices, so every line of the quote carries its share. Either way, the mistake to avoid is quoting from a competitor's price instead of from your own cost.
